Send a letter to Commissioner
Heiden - District 1
(Vernon, Green and Brown Townships)
next election - 2004
(317) 485-5669
The results of this form will be sent to info@savetheroad.com and
a hard copy will be delivered promptly to your Hancock County Commissioner
before their next Monday morning meeting. Your local Commissioner will
have the greatest interest in your concerns, however we will ensure your
letter reaches the other Commissioners since their decisions will effect
the entire Hancock County community.
While sending the
pre-formatted letter will impact your Commissioner's decision on this
matter, an individualized
letter will
have the most significance. The "Letter text" area is completely
customizable so you can voice your unique concerns about closing portions
of Davis and Meridian Roads. Other potential talking-points include:
| - Concerns regarding the diminished
value of your life savings and investment in your homes |
- Why Lilly should be the beneficiary
of valuable taxpayer resources |
| - Emergency
services to my home would be delayed. As Fire Chief McQueen of
Greenfield/Center
Township
noted, "with police and fire, seconds count" |
- My concerns are for the coming 5-10-20 years
when traffic will be even greater on all the roads in that area
and more congested on US 40
|
| - Traffic will increase on all other roads surrounding
the Lilly complex |
- This will cause lengthy and
tedious detours around the Lilly complex |
- Forfeits option of 100 South as an alternate
to US 40 in case of traffic backups
|
- This will create a barrier to
and divide the central part of the County into east and west parts |
| - East-west traffic would be cut
off not only on 100 South but also 200 South |
- Postal service and school buses will have to
be rerouted |
- Commuters from the near South side to Indianapolis
will be force to drive extra miles or use the congested, traffic
light controlled urban section of US 40 - creating even more traffic
pressure on these other roads |
- The human disruption of unnecessary right of
way acquisition and new construction plainly creates an equation
of waste and turmoil that our community should not have to solve
|
| - This will increase traffic on my road |
- Adds miles to the travel of Westsiders going
to the City Park with children for team play |
| - As a user of these roads and as a Hancock County
resident, voter and tax payer, I would not want my tax dollars used
to acquire right of way nor engineer and construct other roads to
absorb the diverted traffic |
